Built in the 1800s, the hotel started life as a coaching inn and you can still see some of the historic origins in the building.
The hotel has a long history of association with mountaineering. Hugh Munro (after whom the 3,000 ft. mountains were named after) stayed here at the hotel in 1899 and 1900.
Mr. Munro would find our rooms very different now! Our rooms come with comfortable, high quality beds, enhanced by simple white bed linen, which guests have voted "more comfortable than home!". Single, double and twin rooms are available, while our "super king" double beds are a very roomy 6 feet wide! (see our Rooms & Tariffs page for more information about our rooms).
Dining - the aim is to provide you with quality, local produce that is cooked to perfection. We don't do fast food; in fact, we would identify ourselves as a slow food outlet. That doesn't mean we keep you waiting an unreasonable length of time – but that we take just the right amount of time to have your food prepared with love and care. We also offer a fine selection of wines, ales and beers to complement the food we serve.

Our rooms have en suite/private bath/shower rooms. All bedrooms have hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms are available on the ground floor if required.

These rooms have been recently refurbished with the same high-quality beds, white bed linen and in-room facilities as our 3-star bedrooms but they share a bathroom which is situated across the corridor.

Deposit
Bookings are secured by providing credit/debit card details at time of reservation. Payment is taken at check out and a preauthorisation is taken 7 days prior to check in.
Free cancellation is possible up to 7 days prior to arrival. Group reservations ( 3 rooms or more) - please request details.
We are pleased to accept balance payment by credit/debit card or cash sterling.
We regret we are unable to accept Diners Club cards.
If a secured booking is cancelled within 7 days or less of the commencement of the holiday, we reserve the right to charge the full bed and breakfast rate. If, however, we are able to re-let the room then no further charge will be made. Departures prior to the booked departure date will be treated as cancellations and charged accordingly.
We would recommend that you arrange travel insurance before your holiday.
We do not have family rooms and are unable to supply additional beds in our rooms for children, for this reason we do not accept children under the age of 12 years as residents of either the hotel or bunkhouse.
We have ONE room in the hotel where, by prior arrangement only, guests can bring a well-behaved dog with them. Any guest wishing to bring their dog MUST telephone or email us to make arrangements prior to a booking being made.
We operate a strict no-smoking policy in the hotel and bunkhouse and accordingly any guest found to have been smoking in the buildings will be asked to leave and may be liable to a surcharge.
